Peer review serves as the foundation of scholarly publishing, acting as a critical mechanism to ensure the quality and integrity of scientific research [3]. This traditional process has long relied on human expertise to evaluate academic submissions before publication. However, the scholarly landscape is undergoing significant transformation due to the exponential growth in research output. Quantitative analysis suggests that the volume of scientific manuscript submissions to journals doubles approximately every 15 years [3] [17]. This growth trend has been persistent, with no indications of a decrease in the rate over the past half-century [17]. The substantial increase in submissions has placed considerable strain on the traditional peer review system, creating significant challenges in terms of efficiency and scalability [3].
